good point... if anet wants to attract new players (new to mmorpgs and not just new to GW) then they will need to do 'something' to change the current skills system....
although one could argue that it doesnt take long, even with all the skills we have now to learn the 'basics' of playing the game.

This sounds like this will be a homage to the bunny hoppers that used to plague counter strike before they fixed it.

True.
I was thinking about the process (that we have now) of being new to the game, learning a few skills, getting good with those, then learning how to use a few more, figuring out some good combos for them, and then slowly mastering the subtleties of more and more skills...
I think that process needs a good name. Something really catchy and cool sounding.
I know! How about, "Emergent Complexity"!
Oh wait, that one's already taken.
Rats. ^_^

you could call it 'Button Masher', ....at least you would get discussion on it...
seriously I was playing around in pvp last night and tried to imagine if the supposed skill system would make it easier or more confusing... the only way it could be less confusing is if they gave us less skills...which doesnt sound too good.

Reminds me a bit of Saga Frontier 2.
You have basic fighting skills (Swing, Feint, Block, Ready, Focus, Beat, Charge). Certain combos create new skills. like.....Swing two times, and it gives you access to the skill Roll Beat (unblockable), that sort of thing.
It lets you learn new skills to the technique you like to play (if you use swing and beat a lot, you learn more powerful multiple blows, if you use focus and charge before you attack, you get stronger single blows).

SF2 was a horrible, horrible game. SF1 however; is still king of my PS1.
But the question I have is...WHERE ON EARTH did you pull SF skills from the "emergent complexity" paragraph? Not saying I wouldn't like that - I'm saying all it sounds like to me is different things can happen when you use skills depending on if you're: running/jumping.....like dropping a fireball from the air? Lol
